And they have many nourishing benefits, especially for your hair.
For example, coconut milk contains all essential nutrients that your hair needs. It contains vitamins C, E, B1, 3, 5, and 6.
Also, coconut milk contains many minerals, such as iron, selenium, calcium, and magnesium.
It’s also got a pH of 6-7, which makes it somewhat neutral. So you can apply it to your head as a PH balancer, without worrying about side-effects.
Alternatively, Aloe Vera contains antifungal and antibacterial properties. It’s an excellent exfoliator for skin cells in your scalp, and it nourishes your hair in a manner similar to Keratin.
So that was a briefing into the benefits of coconut milk and Aloe Vera. It’s time to get into the actual recipes.
Below, we’ll provide you just 1 recipe. It’s a single recipe, with multiple variations, depending on certain effects you’d like!
How to Make Coconut Milk and Aloe Vera Shampoo
You’ll need the following…
- 1 ½ cups of coconut milk.
- 1 ½ tablespoon of Aloe Vera gel.
- 1 teaspoon of almond of olive oil (helps with dry hair).
The instructions are simple. Mix the ingredients together thoroughly, until the mixture becomes consistent in color.
After that, it’s ready for use!
Do note that the previous ingredient portions are tailored for 10 showers. You can increase the proportion as you wish for a full bottle.
This is convenient, especially if you’re busy, and you lack the time to constantly make the shampoo.
Also, for storage, place in a cold area to preserve the nutrients. The life of this shampoo mix is about a month, assuming it is consistently cooled.
Finally, you can substitute the Aloe Vera gel for juice.
Both are the same, but we prefer gel, since it provides more thickness to the shampoo. And it makes it easier to handle.
The Optional Ingredients.
This list of ingredients adds in a range of different effects. Those effects can be purely cosmetic, or they can have practical effects on your hair!
You can use the following…
- 10 – 20 drops of any essential oil.
- 1 tablespoon of raw honey.
- 1 tablespoon of castile soap.
When it comes to essential oils, you can use any scent you wish.
You can include citrus oils such as lemons and oranges. You can add softer smells such as lavender and rosemary.
Or, you can include a strong refreshing smell, such as peppermint!
Honey can be added, since it’ll help you deal with dandruff. If you do not suffer from any dandruff problems yourself, then just remove honey from the list.
Finally, you can add in castile soap, if you wish. You’re already using some kind of carrier oil in the recipe, which makes castile soap unnecessary.
